The concept of the Elf on the shelf is a Christmas Tradition where a North pole scout, your Elf, has been sent by the big man in red to keep a watchful eye on your children and to report back everynight of good and bad behaviour. All doing this whilst being a typical cheeky elf having done something throughout the night.
One thing that most parents will agree with about the Elf on the Shelf is the effort to move it and plan something for the night after a long and stressful day, whether that is at work or home with the kids. Never fear I am here to share 20 reasons why the Elf on the Shelf didn’t move for you to use at your disposal.
20 Reasons why Elf on the Shelf Didn’t move.
1. Someone Touched the Elf.
It is a Christmas myth that if someone touches the Elf on the Shelf it loses its magic and doesn’t move, use this with your kids as an excuse why the Elf didn’t Move.
2. Elf is Tired.
Just like us watching kids and working hard is very tiring. The elf didn’t move last night because he is tired.
3. He’s waiting for some good behaviour to report.
This is a sure fire way to get at least 24hrs of good behaviour. Tell the children that the Elf is waiting for Good Behaviour to report back to the North Pole.
4. Too many Christmas treats.
Just like us after a good belly full of food, he is too full to move after over engulfing in festive treats.
5. Its too warm.
The Elf is acclimatised to severe cold temperatures so coming into your lovely toasty home may be too much for the Elf. Elf may feel like its a holiday and just lays relaxed and doesn’t move.
6. He’s found his favourite spot.
Well every Elf has one, he may not have moved because he has found his favourite spot.
7. Someone got out of bed last night.
The Elf has super hearing and if he hears a child out of bed, for the safety of the Christmas tradition he will not move. This is a good incentive to get the kids to stay in bed.
8. He doesn’t want to report bad behaviour.
This is a good one for if your child has been a bit naughty. Inform them that he hasn’t moved because he saw what you did yesterday and doesn’t want to report bad behaviour.
9. He has a great view of the TV.
This one is personally tried and tested. The Elves don’t get to watch much TV at the North Pole and he has a great view of the TV and ended up watching it all night.
10. Active Pets.
Your dog and cat may have been lurking around so as not to be spotted he stayed in the same spot.
11. His arm or Leg may have been stuck.
He may not have moved as one of his arms or legs may have been stuck.
12. Rudolph Cold.
The elf isn’t feeling well, he has a red nose and it is tickly too, he has a Rudolph Cold.
13. There isn’t enough Christmas Spirit.
Just like Santa’s workshop and hid sleigh, they thrive off Christmas spirit, maybe there isn’t enough, try singing louder for all to hear.
14. He has a hangover.
He may have dipped a bit too much into Daddy’s whiskey stash and has ended up with an all mighty elf hangover.
15. He fell asleep.
Its hard work being an elf, maybe he has worked too hard and needs the extra sleep.
16. He tricked you!
He did move but… he went back to the same spot.
17. A BIG Surprise is coming!
He didn’t move last night because he is reserving his energy and strength to do something very big the next night.
18. Best Viewpoint.
He didn’t move because he has an excellent View Point to observe your behaviour.
19. He’s a FAKE!
This one isn’t your Elf but your Elf is hiding somewhere else.
20. He forgot the Elf Transport Password.
The fireplace is the main source of Elf portal to and from the North Pole but he forgot his Password and is awaiting a replacement via Elf E-mail.
I hope these 20 reasons why the Elf on the Shelf didn’t move useful just like they have for me. Let’s help each other out and if you have any reasons or excuses yourself, leave them in a comment below.
