Simple Homemade Cheeseburger – The Daddy – Foodie Friday Week 2

Well following on from my previous post of The Burger – Let’s have a chat about them. I said I would share with you a recipe of mine that I make myself. But this recipe isn’t just for any burger… No this is for my Daddy Cheeseburger.

What is The Daddy Cheeseburger…

The Daddy Cheeseburger is a homemade burger using my own burger recipe. It is made from two burger patties with a cheese of your choosing sandwiched in between them to create…. The Daddy Cheeseburger.

This is the sort of Burger you won’t find in the likes of wimpy, burger King or McDonald’s.

So let’s get down to business…

So here I will tell you what you will need for my burger patty recipe and how we are going to make them. Also this burger patty recipe is also how to bind burgers without egg. I don’t use them.

There is a few personal preferences in this patty recipe. All down to what beef mince you want to use. Wether you want it lean so it is a healthier option. Or if you want a bit of fat in it for the extra flavour.

You can grab the mince from either your local Butcher, Farm shop or supermarket. Either will have an option of lean less than five percent fat steak mince. Or a more budget option with a higher fat content. Whichever you choose to use it doesn’t matter as it won’t affect the recipe.

Burger Patty Recipe Time…

  • 400g of Beef Mince.
  • 1 white or brown onion (finely diced)
  • 1tsp Salt
  • 1/2tsp Cracked Black Pepper.

And that is that. Super simple but ooo so good.

So to make the Daddy Cheeseburger you want to add the salt, pepper and onions to a bowl with the Mince. Now to get dirty. Give it a good mix together so it’s mixed in the Mince evenly.

Once mixed, weigh and make into balls 4 100g balls of your patty mixture.

Now Using the palm of your hand on some greaseproof paper, press your patty so it is even and around 1 to 1 1/2cm thick. Do this to make each patty. Add on to 1 patty the cheese of your choice.

The cheese could be anything. Cheddar, red Leicester, mozzarella. Whatever tickles your fancy. I’m sure Blue cheese would go nice too but I’m not a fan.

Once you have added on your cheese, take one of the other patties and lay it on top of the cheese laden patty. Press around the edges to seal and once again with the palm of your hand. Using light pressure, press down to sandwich the 2 pattys to create 1 Daddy Cheeseburger.

You will want to put your Daddy Cheeseburgers on a plate and into the fridge for a minimum of 30 minutes. It is this time to chill where they will set themselves. Hence why there is no need for egg to help bind your burger. An old butcher tip there for you.

Now to cook these it is upto you. George foreman, pan fry, oven, grill or bbq.

Make sure your burger is thoroughly cooked before serving, I’m not responsible for you under cooking. Also leave to cool slightly before serving. The cheese inside will be melted and very very VERY hot.

But now your going to know… What should I put in my burger. Well that is upto you. More cheese, bacon, gherkin, salad, tomatoes. The list of what you can add to your burger is endless and entirely up to you and what you like in your homemade burger.
