Onto the Book we go.

My Daddy is a Monster/My Kids are Monsters – Part of the Monstrous Me collection.

Dad and the Princess Tribes first Impression.

First off I would just like to add, Pig has absolutley fallen in love with this book. Upto the point of writing this review I must have read it 5 nights on the bounce, she utterly adores My Daddy is a monster and I can’t stop reading the parents perspective of this clever book – My Kids are Monsters, I’ll share with you some of Pigs favourite features later on in this Review.

This is no normal run of the mill children’s book… no may I add it has a ‘Flipping’ great feature involved with the sense of the story. Have you Guessed what it is yet? I have left a few crumbs for clues so far… Even in the Title of the post!! I’m going to let Titch Reveal it to you!!

Titch revieling the Surprise Element of My Daddy is a Monster. A Flip Book!! Flip it to reveal My Kids are Monsters.

Its a Flip Book!! You see it isn’t JUST My Daddy is a Monster!! Nope flip the book over or let the kids make it do a somersault and you have a completely different view and perspective on the Story line. You have My Kids are Monsters – This is my Favourite and there has been a few disagreements with the girls of which we read!

Such a great idea from author Natalie Reeves-Billing.

Here is My Kids are Monsters!! A flipped Perspective in the story of My Daddy is a Monster.
My Kids are Monsters!! A flipped Perspective in the story of My Daddy is a Monster.

All they want is My Daddy is a Monster! As Pig and Titch put it, I always strap them in their seat-belts too tight in the car just like this monster of a daddy does and apparently I am always telling them NO!! to Screen-time!! Well I can sort of agree but I wouldn’t say I’m a monster with telling them no to Screen-time on their Tablets.

My favourite side is the My Kids are Monsters Side. Why? Because… Just because, the kids are monsters. The constant bickering and fighting in the car. No matter where we go, we always end up with the loud comment of… DADDY (or EDDIE from my Step-Daughters) I NEED A POO!!! Just like Dad finds when he takes his monsters to the Footie Match in the Dads perspective of the story-line in My Kids are Monsters.

An Image from My Kids are Monsters, The little monster in the story "I NEED A POO!" to show how relatable some of the references can be from My Daddys a Monster.

Both My Daddy is a Monster and My Kids are Monsters have so much relatable reference to the day to day parenting struggles and experiences we face daily as Parents. Natalie Reeves-Billing must have encountered these herself in her time as a mum.

Great for Family Reading.

As you may have seen from previous children’s book reviews, we love to read as a family. Me not so much grown up adulty books but I do enjoy reading to the kids.

My Daddy is a Monster – My Kids are Monsters are fantastic fun to read with the kids. With the added fun ‘Can you find the Monstrometer’ in the Illustrations on every page.

The Pesky Monstrometer seems to have a habit of getting lost within the stories – My Daddy is a Monster and My Kids are Monsters.

Showing a handheld mirror known in the book as a monstrometer. A fun interaction for the kids in each illustrated page in My Daddys a Monster/My Kids are Monsters - Can you find all the Monstrometers.

Titch and Pig thoroughly enjoyed this while reading through My Daddy is a Monster – My Kids are Monsters – along with pointing out events in the story that is relatable to both them and for me.

The illustrations have been illustrated by Lisa Williams (Check out her Facebook page Here). An expert and specialist in illustrating Children’s books and educational material.

The illustrations in My Daddy is a Monster – My Kids are Monsters are Fantastic, bright and Colourful. They tell there own story and even for my youngest Daughter Beast, she could enjoy the story too with fun and enjoyment from the pictures.

A different take on my own parental flip - Images in the Graphic with Titch and Pig - Left, My Daddy is a Monster - Right, My Kids are Monsters.

In typical Beast fashion (we call her Beast due to her cute and funny Demonic Beast like growls and grunts she has done since she was a tiny innocent Baby) she points to the Monsters (Daddy or the Kids) and Growls and Grunts as a monster herself. It was rather cute.
