A practical accessory for the Nintendo Switch – Snakebyte Headrest Mount Review – #Gifted

The practicality of these accessories from Snakebyte for the Nintendo Switch. To help keep the kids occupied on long Family Car trips.

Disclaimer – I have been recently gifted this Snakebyte Headrest Mount and In-car Charger for the Nintendo Switch from Bopetweets for the purpose of a Review. Even though I have received this item for Free this does not in anyway impact my thoughts on this product. My views, Thoughts and Opinions that you will read in this review are of my own.

Long car journeys as a family are a nightmare right? Constant questions of “Are we nearly there yet!!” echoing throughout the car. I need a wee or I’m bored amongst other things. One thing the older 4 of the girls enjoy at Home is Playing the Nintendo Switch that we have.

Only problem is it gets dropped if we take it in the car. Only if we could have something where the girls could play the Nintendo Switch Safely in the Car without the fear of it being dropped, and the screen smashed on a long journey!

Well there is actually and it comes from a German Gaming Gear company called Snakebyte – take a look through their website and online shop Here.

Snakebyte – Gaming Gear.

So who is Snakebyte and what do they do. Well I’m no big Technical Gaming fan, I enjoy the racing sims on my Xbox One such as Forza Motorsport or Dirt Rally but other than that and a few games to play with the kids on the Nintendo Switch, my Gaming Gear knowledge is very Limited.

When I recieved the Snakebyte Headrest seat Mount and In-car Charger from PR Agency Bopetweets to review for our Nintendo switch.

I obviously had to do a little bit of research on the Brand as I had never heard of them… Well googling if I have to be honest, of who they were. Snakebyte have a website that certainly stands out – very Gaming esk and orientated and is also very user friendly and simple to navigate.

Below I will share with you my thoughts and opinion on Snakebyte’s Headrest Mount and In-car Charger for use with the Nintendo Switch and how we got on with it.

Snakebyte Headrest seat Mount and In-car Charger for our Nintendo switch

The Snakebyte Headrest Mount is super handy for the long car journeys for the kids. We gave it a trial run on our recent PR Media trip to Gulliver’s Valley theme Park in Rotherham (You can take a look and have a read of my review for Gulliver’s Valley Here). From where we are in Scarborough it’s around a 2 hr drive. So on a 4 hr round trip it got some use – definitely didn’t forget to make sure our Nintendo Switch was charged.

One big thing that instantly stood out for me was the Packaging for both the Headrest Mount and the In-car charger. Subtly bright in White with Red accents. The cool Snakebyte logo, detailed brief information on the packaging itself with clear images of the product inside.

Mouse was the main one who played the switch in the car, her go to Game of choice on the Nintendo Switch is Crash Bandicoot (I know, an awesome classic right?) – oh and Just Dance 2020 but that isn’t really ideal in the confined spaces of the car.

An image showing Crash Bandicoot on the Nintendo switch loading before we even get on the road. All thanks to the Snakebyte Headrest Mount enabling us to use the switch safely in the car.

Picture this, 7 am, loading the 5 girls into the car, trying to stop Colin (our cat) jumping in the car for the ride too. All excited for a super fun day out at a Theme Park and all Mouse is bothered about at that time is, when can she play the Nintendo Switch.

Fitting the Snakebyte Headrest Mount into our car.

This was a very simple and straight forward process, one that my other half Sarah tackled as I wrestled the energetic toddler into her car seat!!

She mentioned it was super simple, ideal for the majority of various makes and models of cars on the roads in the UK (and other countries too). What she liked about it was that you could adjust the width to suit the bars of the Headrest in your car, then just a simple case of making sure it is a snug fit and tightening the fasteners to hold it in place.

Their is an adjustable tilt feature to the Snakebyte Headrest mount so that you can have the screen at optimal clarity of the gamer – in our case child in the back seat.

The base to the mount where the Nintendo Switch is hugged nicely is eaily to adjust – a push in and hold peg on the side and slide to adjust to fit and remove the Switch.

As you can see from this image of the peg for adjustment on the right hand side of the Mount.

The base mount is Backed with a non-slip rubber material and also on the lipped… not sure what you’d call them, so lets call them arms. What would stop the unit falling out. These also have the same material which stops the Nintendo Switch sliding or any possible movement when In use in the Car.

Cost of the Snakebyte Headrest Mount for the Nintendo Switch.

I have very rarely seen accesories such like this for the Nintendo Switch so I was pleasantly surprised to see it was very reasonably priced at the cost of £19.99. Link to the Snakebyte Headrest mount for the Nintendo Switch can be found Here.

The only issue I found with the cost wise, and not sure if this is just down to me being a tight Yorkshire’man and a Dad to 5 girls (got to watch those penny’s) but £14.90 for DHL Shipping seemed costly. But in the Grand scheme of things with it coming from Germany and an estimated 1-3 working days for the delivery time, it isn’t that bad at all.

One upside to this also, everything that is Available from the Snakebyte online store with a RRP Value of £19.99 and Over comes with their Unbeatable 5-year Warranty.

Snakebyte In-Car Charger – Nintendo Switch.

This was super handy for keeping the Nintendo Switch alive in the car to keep the tribe quiet, especially on the journey back from our family day out.

A sleek design on the casing of the body itself, stamped with the cool looking Snakebyte logo and the way the shape is moulded. It means it is very easy to slot in – pull out of the cars 12v socket. Some you get these days are just a bit of crappy slippery cheap plastic that just break when the slightest of pressure is applied to slot them in – or next to no grip to pull them out of the 12v socket.

Snakebyte Logo that you will find imprinted and stamped on the Products.

The cable for the Snakebyte In-Car Charger is a decent length so that the wire isn’t tight or under tension for when it is in use on the Headrest.

Another great little addition to keep the Gamers or Kids happy on those long journeys. Also reasonably priced for the quality of the In-car charger itself at £14.99.

Couple the Snakebyte In-car Charger and the Snakebyte Headrest Mount for the Nintendo Switch together and you will only have to pay the single shipping cost, saving on those penny’s.

Dads overall thoughts…

So, what does this Dad think to these items for our Nintendo Switch? I will list them below-

Headrest Mount

Pro’s

  • Easy, Simple and Quick to fit.
  • Fits most Standard Car Seats.
  • Adjustable tilt feature.
  • Non-slip Backing on the Mount.
  • Easily adjustable to fit the Nintendo Switch.
  • Suitable for use with most 7-10″ Tablets.

Con’s

  • Cost of Shipping – Not too bad when you think about it and it is coming from Germany.

I say the delivery cost listed as one of my Con’s of these items but I think that is just me if I’m being honest.

I could seriously spend a fortune on the Snakebyte website, especially with the vast range of Xbox One Accessories they have to choose from. Alongside the various Accessories to choose from for the Nintendo Switch too. I would recommend taking a look at their online store and seeing what tickles your fancy. Covering Gaming accessories and essentials for Console and PC Gamers and enthusiasts.

  1. This is a pretty handy bit of kit, especially if you are going on a long drive.

    1. It is dude, very handy, good that it can hold 7 to 10 inch tablets too so they can have YouTube or movies in the car. Handy thing with having amazon kids fire tablets. We can add movies we’ve bought on prime so they can access them through there childs profile.
