This years family Christmas panto at the Scarborough Spa is the classic Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs. I’m sure you will agree it isn’t Christmas without a family trip to the panto.
The girls were so excited, with covid having a large impact on certain events the last 2 years Christmas has been a bit like a bland turkey. This year though certain events have actually gone ahead.
Tickets for the panto were booked online, always a simple exchange, the kids were counting down the days with their advent calendars.
This was the first time Beast had experienced anything like this, the typical ants in the pants anticipation as we are seated and awaiting the show to start. As the show began and the characters are getting the crowd involved she was hooked and shouting as good as the rest of the kids.
Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs Christmas Panto.
The show itself was great, sticking to the classic storyline of this family classic but with a modern twist of singing solos of modern songs such like Ed Sheeran’s hit bad habits and numbers from the greatest showman.
The highlight of the show has to be Muddles and his mother Dotty. They were hilarious, jokes and puns galore to keep the kids highly entertained and involved in the show but also the odd subtle adult humour here and there unbeknownst to the children.
The way they got the crowd involved in the show with the Boos of Queen HorriBella and the classic panto jibes of “OH NO YOUR NOT!!”.
The actors were fab, from the dancers on stage, the younger children dancing did fantastic and to the main cast, they all were very good. The dancing the singing, It was a very entertaining show which the kids absolutely loved. The addition of references to local areas around Scarborough in the punchlines of jokes and puns was clever, but made it relevant to the locals watching the show. The kids picked up on these.
The design of the set and the props really added to the experience, the girls were immersed into the world of Snow White.
Still Muddles was the star of the show for us and the girls, they are still doing his greeting to the crowd a few days after, if you don’t know what that is and curious then you will have to go and visit the show.
To take on such a family classic like Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, add modern twists and turns to the show and pull off something memorable for the children is a great feat.
